Ilana Stroke, Ph.D.
Discovery Biology, Senior Team Leader

Dr. Ilana Stroke has over twenty years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including fifteen years at Pharmacopeia and six years at Venenum Biodesign, in cell-based and biochemical assay development, high throughput screening, and lead optimization for G protein-coupled receptor, enzyme, cell adhesion molecule, ion channel, transcription factor, and transporter targets.

At Pharmacopeia, Dr. Stroke collaborated with scientists at pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies such as Altana, AstraZeneca, BASF, Berlex, Biovitrum, Daiichi, Neurocrine Biosciences, Novartis, Organon/Schering Plough, Pharmacia and Upjohn, and Progenics on forty assay development, assay automation, and high throughput screening projects. She was the recipient of eleven accomplishment awards from Pharmacopeia.

At Venenum Biodesign, Dr. Stroke established a high throughput screening laboratory and has since led several high throughput biochemical and phenotypic screening campaigns for antimicrobial discovery, resulting in two ongoing hit-to-lead/ lead optimization programs.

Dr. Stroke earned a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institut Pasteur, Paris, and the State University of New York, Stony Brook.
